Chances are if you're travelling to Australia, you'll be arriving into Sydney.  Once you've had a chance to look around, you have heaps of choice as to how you travel to other corners of the continent.  Some of the great train journeys of the world depart from Sydney.  Plus there's heaps of routes you can take by bus.
